          Main content:Since a couple of years, Wireless Sensor Networks (WSNs) are a hot topic in networking and systems research. A large number of projects have dealt with different aspects of the WSN-realm; many application areas have been studied, protocols and mechanisms at varying levels and with divergent objectives have been investigated and developed. Still, WSN remains an important field of research, also due to its expected potential for improvements of our technical systems and the physical world. In this talk I will discuss some of our work on WSNs and the gained experiences, especially from our projects in diverging areas such as an industrial environment and elderly healtcare.
